GNAT-URAL SELECTION

A man had a passion fruit
right above his head
sitting ona shelf
until his day of dead.

The fruit stood lonely quite
for a small but loyal spat
visitors would soon be here
a fly, a fungus, a gnat.

Chewing upon ready flesh
pink and wrinkled mess
gnawing on ripe insides
a gooey home, no less.

The man, alive, looked one last
at his passion prize
drifted off into lengthy sleep
never closing his eyes.

The fruit looked frightfully down
at the poor old man
the fruit, hew knew what was next
he knew the whole wrethced plan.

Poor passion fruit looked one last
at the man's eyes, now dim
bravely took his shelfly place
the gnats were buzzing towards him!
